Dear Sam,
We were very sorry to hear the disturbing news of Glen.
I have not written before as I had hoped by now to have had news of his being taken prisoner or escape to our lines.
While there is no news there is always hope. We have heard of several cases in which boys have been missing for several months
[page break]
& then have been reported prisoners of war.
We are very fond of Glen and used to look forward to his visits very much. The children were very upset when we told them he was missing on operations. He used to go riding horseback with Bill quite a lot to their mutual enjoyment.
We used to talk quite a lot of Canada and it was a great interest to hear him you all were.
We did not have the pleasure of meeting George Werry before he went to France but undoubtedly he will come and see us when he gets some English leave.
[page break]
Convey my sympathy to Glen’s young wife in these anxious times and let us hope he is safe.
If you hear any news please let us know as soon as possible as we think of him a lot.
Your Cousin
Jack
