12 Mar 1944: Hello Everyone:
Well its Sunday night 10:15. Haven’t been very busy today. Went to church this morning and a stage show here on the station tonight.
Received a letter from you on Friday, also one from Aunt Verna [Ed. his mother’s sister] and Uncle Jack [Ed. his father’s brother]. Your parcel which was mailed on Jan 10 arrived on Friday. Also one from Dora posted in Dec. I enjoyed it a lot and still have quite a lot of stuff left. Haven’t touched hamburg [Ed. how did it keep?] or soup as yet. I got 7 letters from Dora this last week. Letters are coming in 10 to 12 days now. Hope mine are going to Canada that fast.
I’m feeling fine and look ok as far as I know. I’m kept pretty busy around here most of the time. I find my work very interesting and like it a lot. The food is pretty good but not like being home.
News seems to look pretty good at present time. Sure hope it soon winds up.
The fellow who sleeps beside me is from Uxbridge. He worked in the bank there and knows the Gerrows1 quite well. His father was a minister in Sutton Ont. [Ed. north of Uxbridge] He used to be at Blackstock [Ed. south of Uxbridge and north of Bowmanville, Glenn’s home] The name is Dowell. Maybe you know of them.
I got a letter from Archie on Friday and he is on his way to Canada. He didn’t write much as he was pretty excited at the time.
According to your letter you are all well and everything is going fine at home. Dora says she had a good time up there on the weekend. You tell Grant that he had better stop trying to date my wife and take her to the show. I hear all about these things. How is Ray getting along in the navy?
I haven’t received any of the Statesman as yet. I don’t know what the trouble is. Your parcel was all intact and in good order.
Well will soon have to say so long. Think of you all often. Will be a while yet before I see action. Remember me to everyone.
Love Glenn
