Block 49 Room 3
RAF South Cerney
Dear Pa
Just a few lines to let you know I am still alive and kicking, I wrote a letter to Aud letting her know I had arrived safely and asked her to let everybody know I was here all in one piece. I intended writing everybody a lot of letters this week but as I have explained to Aud this has been one of the most hectic weeks as far as work is concerned that I have spent, but after the test exam this morning when I got 90 – 100 percent on my estimation of the results (we have had the answers given us) I feel very pleased with myself and have no fears as far as Wednesdays real exam is concerned.
Well I still enjoy the life, even on Sunday when I slept on a hard bed, I slept just as well as on Saturday night in a feather bed. I am enclosing a photo of our flight which I told you about, doubtless you will be able to recognise my ugly mug.
I have been selected as one of the escort party for RAF funerals and have got to go to one on Friday so about all we do now is slow marching etc.
[page break]
I hope to [deleted] to [/deleted] be up in London on Saturday if Audrey and family will be up there for the weekend or if not I might try to get home again.
We have now started Navigation in grim earnest I am afraid its going to be a bit difficult but it seems extremely interesting.
Incidentally I started writing this letter two days ago and was under the impression that I had posted it then but have just found it uncompleted.
Well I don’t think I have anything else much to say so think I will close for the present. Oh bye the way we are working morse at about 5 1/2 wpm now and have 7 more weeks to get to 6 wpm so thats [sic] OK too.
Cheerio for the present with best love from your loving son
Ron
P.S. Have just heard that I have passed real maths exam OK so thats [sic] one less to pass!
