Dear Sir,
With reference to my letter dated 22nd November 1941 and a letter from Headquarters, No. 4 Group dated 19th December 1941, I have now heard from Group that no trace can be found of your son’s golf clubs.
I enclose a copy of the letter from Group which I thought you would like to read and I can only concur with the final paragraph.
I feel sure you will appreciate that everything possible has been done and I regret the result has not proved more successful.
Yours faithfully,
