My dear Mum & Dad,
I can now tell you definately [sic] that I shall be gone from here by the time you get this letter, I can't tell you the exact time we are going as we had to give our word of honour not to. I don't know if we are going straight to the boat from here, but I do know that I won't be able to write any more while I am in England, So its cheerio for a little while, till I get settled again, if I can possibly write while I'm on board I will, but I doubt if we

will be able to stop anywhere.
I'm going to try to get to church tonight & you can depend I’ll be thinking of you. Keep cheerful dears this is only a tempiry [sic] posting & I'll be back in a few months, with plenty of leave.
Well dears I must close now, as I’ve a lot of packing to do, & its nearly dinner time. Keep cheerful dears, I'll always be thinking of you & remember you've still got your future daughter till I get back,
Cheerio darlings for now,
Your Everloving Son,
Rowland
