120 Squadron was reformed in June 1941 in Coastal Command. It operated long range B-24s and made a significant impact during the Battle of Atlantic. It flew from RAF Nutts Corner, RAF Ballykelly and RAF Aldergrove in Northern Ireland and RAF Reykjavik in Iceland. The squadron also played an anti-submarine role in support of the Normandy Campaign. By the end of the war it had been credited with sinking 14 German submarines, a share in three more and damaging a further eight.
